Eindhoven University of Technology

Hi everyone! We are team TU/e Sensing Team, better known as T.E.S.T., representing Eindhoven University of Technology. We consist out of a multidisciplinary team, including second-, and third year Bachelor Biomedical Engineering and Medical Sciences and Engineering students and we are very excited to work on this project.

It is special to be part of a contest that strives to medical innovation and biosensing, as those are the future of the health industry. Our backgrounds and interests all differ, however this ensures we can best contribute to improve the quality of life. The SensUs competition gives us the opportunity to take our theoretical knowledge and use it to develop and engineer a point-of-care biosensor for IL-6 with translational potential for the health industry. We hope to learn new skills like going into the lab, gaining professional skills and develop a business plan.

With the ongoing pandemic, it has come to light that point-of-care biosensors are becoming more important every day. We hope we can prevent these situations in the future by developing a biosensor.

Supervisor (Leo Ijzendoorn):

Leo van IJzendoorn is an Associated Professor in Particle Based Biosensing and Biophysics in the research group Molecular Biosensing for Medical Diagnostics (MBx). His research focus is on the detection of biomolecules in complex environments and on the discovery of biomolecule properties.

Coach (Chris Vu):

Chris Vu is currently a PhD candidate in the Molecular Biosensing for Medical Diagnostics (MBx) research group at the Eindhoven University of Technology. His research focuses on novel real-time biosensing technologies for industrial process monitoring in the food industry.
