SensUs | Newsletter March

Now that spring has arrived in the Netherlands, the sun is shining brighter than ever before! The SensUs Organization is very motivated and continuously working to arrange an unforgettable SensUs Event for all!

The Innovation Days of SensUs 2021 will take place from the 30th of August until the 3rd of September. On the last day of this week, the official SensUs Event will take place where the 15 participating Teams present their biosensors to the world!

Hybrid Event

Due to the circumstances around Covid-19, the SensUs Organization has officially decided to aim for a hybrid SensUs 2021 Event. Teams that are able and allowed to, can come to enjoy the SensUs contest on the campus of the Eindhoven University of Technology. For the other Teams, an interactive, online environment will be created to make the Competition just as much fun! Of course, everything that we organize will be in agreement with the Covid-19 regulations that will apply during the first week of September 2021. We will keep you updated about the status.

Biomarker 2022

This month, our Technology Department started working on the theme and biomarker of SensUs 2022. Currently, they are investigating 26 potential biomarkers for next year’s edition! They conduct research on the relevance, social awareness, and feasibility of the biomarker. In addition, the biomarker should be safe to work with during the Testing Event. In the coming months, the SensUs Organization will engage in discussions with experts in the field. Stay tuned if you are curious about the new theme!

Partner Session I

On the 3rd of March, the first Partner Session of the year took place. It was a fast-paced event where the Teams had 3 speed dates of 10 minutes to ask questions to our Partners, which was followed by a networking moment. There was no shortage of interesting conversations at the Partner Session. As the first contacts have been initiated, we hope to see the Teams keeping in contact with the Partners, and look forward to seeing the outcomes of those collaborations!

Theme video

Something to look forward to this month is the theme video. In this video, the SensUs Organization will explain why influenza may turn into the next pandemic and the importance of rapid biosensors to prevent this. More is coming soon!
